Camping in Lake District

The last couple of days were spent in the Lake District. The weather was a mixed bag of rain, cloud and dry spells. The Lake and surroundings looked spectacular and luckily, we still managed to get some food on our plates in this challenging weather. It was fun and just the right time to head back home. The last night we experienced very strong gusts of wind and rain and made us realize how fortunate we are to have a solid roof over our heads. We also went to the Lake Safari park. Little one loved all the animals while the big girl found quiet moments on top of the rocks with her headphones. Can't believe she will be in her teens soon. Wow!
Sorry about the number of photographs, I tried my best but it is so hard to stop myself from clicking away. I still haven't posted our last little holiday photographs yet. But life has been full on this summer with everything that's been going on.

Hidden Memories

Yesterday was the day for normal household jobs and time spent with family. Today, was a different story. I got some time for myself. Time to finish one of my paintings which I have been working on for a while. Through rain and sunshine I painted. As rain didn't affect me, I was dry in my studio. I decided to paint over one of my old paintings which I no longer liked. It's better this way. The painting has got more texture and depth now. The memories of my past is hidden. Hidden behind the layers of paint. I have even lost the count of layers by now. There is a history to my work now which only I know and it remains a mistery to the viewer. I think I might call this painting 'Hidden Memories'.

In my Studio

This is where I have been lately spending my time, apart from going for long walks in the countryside and camping.

This is the one room in the whole house, where I could spend the entire day. I love to paint - my paintings are based on collected experiences and memories being born and brought up in India, my travelling and having lived in England since 2000. I am passionate about colours and I am inspired by landscapes, nature and wildlife for my paintings.

For my abstract paintings, I work from my memory trying to recreate the feelings and the mood that the depicted landscape signifies to me. I do not always produce an accurate representation but aim to evoke a spence of personal experience, to create an image which brings together different aspects of the landscape.

The Begining

On a hot summers day, I stood by the seashore. The air was cold. My feet touched the cold salty water. It felt good. The crochet shawl had been completed during the holiday. Children were happy playing in the sandy beach. I wrapped my shawl around me, it felt warm and cosy. Kept the chill out.

The sea was calm but there was a  storm in my head. Lots of thoughts for my new work. Lots of inspiration around here. I am determined, time is just what I need now.

Time in my studio. But I better let my feet dry before I walk in. Do come and visit me in my studio - I hope to see you there.
